Week One | Three Days in to Life in Uganda

It is Friday and I have officially been in Uganda for about three days! I would be lying if I didn't say adjusting has been challenging but also has been great. We landed in Uganda on Wednesday and were picked up by the program. That night we headed to the Uganda Christian University where we are staying for the semester. Campus is absolutely beautiful - the weather is so warm! I am slowly adjusting to the eight hour time change, cold showers, squatty pottys and different foods. God has blessed me with two Ugandan roommates and a roommate from the program who are SO kind and loving. They have made the transition easier. Classes will start on Monday and senior placement should begin sometime in the next few weeks. Being completely out of my comfort zone has caused me to reflect how much I really trust God. Overall, I already love Uganda and the sweet people I have met!

I chose the title of this blog page to be "Mwaminifu" which is Swahili for "Faithful." Faithful is the word I am choosing for 2020, as I am learning how faithful God truly is . Years ago I could only pray of spending an extended time in another culture - God heard every one of those prayers and has answered through my time in Uganda.
